About Peel Chamber of Commerce & Industry
What is a Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce is a professional association of business people that collects facts and
acts according to the wishes of its members. The Chamber is an association of the business
community with the prime function to advance the business, commercial and industrial interests
of the area and support the local community. It is a lobby group to present and defend the views
of the business community to Government - local, State and Federal, as well as other authorities
and organisations.
The Peel Chamber of Commerce & Industry is an independent incorporated body
administered by a President, Treasurer and Executive Committee who can appoint subcommittees
to investigate issues or organise activities and report to the Executive for
consideration. An Annual General Meeting is held each year in August with Executive meetings
held monthly and general meetings as required.
In recognition that members are important stakeholders in the area's economy and quality of life,
the Chamber provides representation and advocacy on behalf of members and lobbying to
support the interests of the local business community. The Chamber is a powerful ally, providing
you with the opportunity to influence decisions which affect your business and protecting the
rights of business at a local, state and national level.
The Peel Chamber of Commerce & Industry agrees with the concept of free enterprise
whilst recognising the role of government and appropriate legislation to properly manage and
protect the interests of the supplier and consumer equally.
The Chamber will expose and oppose legislation it is aware of that seems inappropriate or
limiting to economic development and free enterprise.
Our members abide by the Chamber "Code of Ethics" which is designed to protect members and
to encourage a high standard of business behaviour.
